Thanks - good stuff.

Trying to stick with real life rather than theory, I've posted some thoughts here: http://livingwithrats.blogspot.com/2009/09/eduardo-eduardo-we-all-fall-down.html

I'm reading the proof of Slovoj Zizek's new book 'First as Tragedy, Then as Farce'. Zizek says that before the crash, global warming was designated a priority but there has been relatively little action (10:10 and other great initiatives notwithstanding of course!). As soon as the financial crisis kicked in, huge amounts of cash materialised in no time. To me this is grounds for optimism rather than despair - we can do it - and it would be more than helpful to apply moral architecture to this huge and complex challenge with all the competing values and the ethical choices that need to be made.

[...] Over the last year or so we have seen many episodes, ranging from Ross and Brand, to Sir Fred Goodwin, to MPs? expenses, in which the public has reacted against what it sees as unacceptable behaviour. Yet there has been relatively little discussion of what might be called the ?architecture? of moral choice. http://www.matthewtaylorsblog.com/politics/eduardo-and-the-architecture-of-morality/ [...]
